President Donald Trump has announced a sweeping new visa category for British citizens, the GB-1 “Only Send Your Best” Visa, after concluding that the United Kingdom’s recent cultural exports no longer meet the “tremendous, world-class standard” America deserves.
Under the plan, every UK applicant will be assessed not on skills, family ties or employment, but on whether they are “Bond-tier, Beatle-tier, or frankly, a disappointment.”
The New Three-Tier System
| Tier | Status | Examples | Visa outcome |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier One: National Treasure | Automatic entry, complimentary burger, Statue of Liberty selfie rights | Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, David Bowie, The Beatles, David Beckham | Approved instantly |
| Tier Two: Acceptable Export | Entry permitted with mandatory orientation on American portion sizes | Adele, Elton John, most Premier League managers, anyone who can explain cricket | Approved with conditions |
| Tier Three: Cultural Audit Required | Applicant must justify their entire existence at a hearing in Mar-a-Lago | James Corden, Brooklyn Beckham, Prince Harry | “We’ll get back to you” |
Administration officials insist the policy is not anti-British. “We love the UK,” one senior adviser said, while holding a Union Jack mug allegedly purchased at a Florida gift shop. “We just want the good ones. The ones with the tuxedos. The ones who can sing. The ones who don’t turn a family podcast into a constitutional crisis.”
‘We Used To Get James Bond — Many of Them’
Trump reportedly told aides that America’s relationship with Britain peaked during the Connery-Moore era, when the UK sent over “handsome guys in suits, great music, and people who knew how to order a martini without making it weird.”
“Sean Connery — tremendous guy, unbelievable accent, very strong,” the President said. “Roger Moore — also fantastic. Pierce Brosnan — technically Irish, but Britain has claimed him for decades, so we’re putting him on their invoice. That’s how the British work. They take an Irishman, put him in a tuxedo, and suddenly he’s part of the Royal Family.”
Officials added that the UK’s golden era also produced David Bowie, whom the administration described as “an unbelievable export — very talented, very different, frankly one of the few people who could make a British accent sound like the future.”
Corden, by contrast, would not be banned outright, but would be required to complete a 90-day “Decency Recalibration Programme” before entering a late-night television studio.
Adele: Approved, With Notes
Adele is expected to receive fast-track approval, with the White House describing her voice as “one of the few British imports that has consistently delivered value for money.”
However, her visa will include a condition: she must perform at least one song at any future Trump rally, ideally something “very beautiful, very emotional, maybe about borders.”
Her team has not commented, though sources close to the singer say she is “perplexed, mildly amused, and concerned that someone has confused her with a trade agreement.”
The Beckham Clause
David Beckham will be granted permanent honorary entry under the new Beckham Exemption, described by officials as “a rare instance of Britain sending over exactly what was advertised.”
Brooklyn Beckham, however, faces a more complicated process. Under the proposed rules, he may enter only if he can demonstrate one of the following:
- A skill unrelated to being David Beckham’s son
- A cookbook containing at least one recipe that does not require a personal chef
- The ability to name three things he has achieved without a camera crew present
“We accept David,” an official said. “We are still reviewing the rest of the family’s export documentation.”
Prince Harry: Special Category
Prince Harry will be assigned to a newly created “Royal Complications Visa”, reserved for British public figures whose arrival generates more headlines than measurable benefit, despite requesting privacy.
Applicants in this category must complete an extensive questionnaire, including:
- “Do you intend to discuss your family in exchange for money?”
- “How many interviews are planned per calendar month?”
- “Would you describe your relationship with the British press as ‘complicated,’ ‘toxic,’ or ‘a highly lucrative content vertical’?”
The White House says Harry may still visit, but only if he agrees to attend at least one baseball game and refrain from calling any American institution “outdated” before completing customs.
Britain Responds
Downing Street has reportedly responded with diplomatic restraint, noting that the UK “remains committed to the special relationship” and would continue sending America its finest exports, “provided America continues sending over its lawyers, private equity firms and streaming executives.”
Behind the polite statement, however, officials are said to be furious that Washington has overlooked Britain’s greatest recent act of international service: taking Ellen DeGeneres in. Britain deserves a visa credit for that., we’re the ones suffering from that decision”
Effective Date
The policy is expected to take effect “as soon as we figure out whether Elton John counts as a Beatle,” according to one administration source.
